Shake Rattle, and Roll

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!!!

(my mom got him this outfit; isn't he is the cutest thing ever?)

Hello all! I can't believe it is December and almost Christmas. We were just talking about how this time last year we were thinking of how we would tell our families that we were expecting a baby. Now we have little Jeff and he's almost 4 months old! Last Christmas was fun thinking that from then on, Christmas would always include our little one and how fun that would be. How time truly does fly.

We are so excited to go back to South Dakota to see our families for Christmas. I have to say that I don't think anyone will notice Kirb and me; I think everyone just wants to see our Jefferson. I don't blame them, he's such a little love and it's been a while since anyone from our family has seen him, and it will be the first time Jeff sees any of his Swisher aunts and uncles. A lot of extended family will be around as well, so it should be a wonderful and joyous time. We get to be there for a week. I already know it won't be long enough. :)

Well, since the last post, I finished the first term of teaching, I ended the Italian and Latin Diction course, and I think it went pretty well. My vocie students did just fine this term as well. Next term I will only be teaching lessons, and in the spring term I am teaching lessons and the Vocal Pedagogy course which should be fun.

any question who his dad is?

Let's see, what else. The Beavers won the civil war against the Oregon Ducks which was such an exciting game, it went into overtime and oh we were all just going crazy. We beat them in Eugene which hasn't happened for 14 years, I think. It was fun. I know some people will say that I was a Duck, but it was grad school and I never really crossed over. Last year when we won I courageously wore a Beaver pin to school. The grad secretary was a Beaver alum too and so we celebrated together. :)

I sang in the Corvallis/OSU Symphony and OSU Choral Holiday Concert, which went ok. I have realized I really want to get back into better shape vocally. After giving birth, it's amazing how much work it is to get those muscles to coordinate again. :) I am doing some more Bach in February with a visiting conductor from Germany, and hopefully I'll be in better shape by then.

Kirb is doing well with work and play and being a dad. He is playing in a basketball league and he has been working out a lot and looks great. We had to go buy him some new clothes because his pants were about falling off. I hope to get to that point someday too. :) Kirb will be traveling to Japan sometime early next year for work, acquiring a new tool for HP. I don't know if I will be able to go or not, but it should be a pretty cool trip. He'll get to stay about a week or so, and really wants to climb Mt. Fugi if he has time. I don't know...

Jack loves Jeff and had to hop up and join him for the picture

So, news with Jeff. Well, two days ago he rolled over! It was kind of crazy for the first time, because he was lying on the floor, with both fists up to his mouth, and he just all of a sudden rolled completely over. Since his fists were up to his mouth, he ended up kind of on his elbows, and he stayed there for about 20 seconds and then rolled all the way back over on his back again. I was surprised. He'd been working on it for a while, and then it just happened so suddenly! :) It was pretty cool. He did it again a couple times that day, and the only thing was that his arm got stuck under him, but he was completely on his belly, so I say it counts. He hasn't rolled back on to his back yet since that first time. I think it helped that both arms were kind of up and out of the way that first time. Anyway, it was fun to see.

Also, in the last week or so, he really seems to play with his toys more. He looks at things and kind of works to get them. He really seems to want my shiny phone that sits on the little table next to me when I feed him. He sees it when he's supposed to be burping and he leans out. :) He feels extra heavy when he does that! It is really cute when he picks up this one little rattle and shakes it on purpose too. It is so cute! He is just really taking it all in like he has his whole little life, but even more. I had just got out of the shower today when he woke up from a little nap, and he gave me the funniest look when I had the towel on my head, and then he just kept staring at it, leaning back to see how high it went up. He also loves looking in the mirror at himself and me holding him, and also looking at the kitties when they walk by. He sits up really well when propped, and loves to hold on to our fingers and stand and then squat and push up to standing again. He is getting so tall that we need a new car seat. The straps come out of the back lower than his shoulder, so it pulls down on his shoulders instead of just keeping him back and secure. crazy.

He has his 4 month shots and "well baby" check up next Monday, so we'll have all the new stats to post. I think he is somewhere in the 16 pound range, and has got to be around 28 inches I would think. We'll see.

Well, I should get to bed, but here is a video of him doing his favorite sound of the week. If you are at work, you may want to make sure that the sound isn't loud enough for others to hear, because they may wonder what is going on. :) I apologize because at the end he starts crying, but this was right before he rolled over and he was trying, and I was trying to catch it. Oh well. You can handle a little fussing. He does have some lungs though. Thankfully he is a happy baby otherwise I might be deaf already. :)

We'll post more after his check up!

Santa is tired :)

So we didn't play the video the first time we went to your blog and since I have checked it like 20 times since without any changes =) I played the video tonight. Bo was quit concerned about Jeff. He was freaked out trying to find the baby that was crying for help. Pretty funny.
These pictures are so cute, I can't believe how much of a little man Jeff is.
