Howdy from the Sand Castle! Jefferson is doing great and we are so thankful he is such a good baby. We had some trouble with breastfeeding at the beginning, and even then he wasn't too bad even though he was starving! We finally figured it out thanks to the nurse who came by to do the normal 2-day check-up who also happened to be a lactation expert, and we thank God for breast shields, as I guess I am a bit too well-endowed for him to keep hold to feed at this point. :) eek. He had lost a bit more weight than he should have because he wasn't getting enough to eat so we had to go in for a weigh-in a couple days after that, and he had already gained 9 oz. back, and two days after that he had gained 6 more, so we aren't too worried about his feeding at this point. He is a strong little bug, and I swear he is going to roll over any day, I was changing him yesterday and he almost got on his side on his own. He can hold his head on his own and can hold himself up on his hands and knees for a little while. Yikes, I think we will have our hands full with this one. :)
We have had so many wonderful visitors, messages, meals and presents. Thanks to all who have shared the wonderful arrival of our little one with us! I especially want to thank my Mom who was here with us for a couple weeks patiently awaiting the arrival of Mr. Overdue. She was so wonderful to us, and I really appreciated the time we had before Jeff showed up as well as after. She has five kids and was a nurse so I felt like I was in very good hands. She baked and cleaned and we did projects and errands to take my mind off being overdue. And just talking and catching up was so fun too. Then when Jeff came, she had everything ready for us when we got home and took care of us, and brought us goodies when we were in the hospital. THANK YOU MOM! We miss you. :) I think she is a pretty proud grandma too, and just a pretty grandma in general as you can see in the photo.
My dad is arriving tomorrow, so we are looking forward to that. I think he is excited to see his first grandchild. Kirby's parents and sister are coming in September, and in the mean time, it has been fun showing them Jefferson live through the Internet.
Kirby and I celebrated our 7th anniversary yesterday, and we went to a nice restaurant and took little Jeff with us and he was perfect the whole time. We had a nice time getting out of the house and we both had really good fillet mignon too. It was fun. :) Then we got a movie and made some ice cream sundaes when we got home.

Kirby went back to work today, and Jeff and I did just fine. It was great when he was home and helping out, but I am healing up well so I can doing everything on my own during the day now. The swelling has gone down for me which makes it easier to get around too, the last bit of pregnancy I gained even more weight due to fluid retention, and now 11 days after Jeff was born I have lost 30 pounds. That's a lot of baby and fluid! Yikes! Now I just have to get the rest of the baby weight off and then work on the getting the grad school weight gain to go away. :) Anyway, Kirb and I enjoyed the time being together at home and resting and hanging out with Jeff, taking walks and singing songs and just enjoying life. Today Jeff and I went grocery shopping and did some cleaning and laundry. Well, I guess I did those things and Jeff slept which works well. I won't make him do chores for at least a few more months. :) ha ha.
Anyway, here are some more pictures. Enjoy! We hope everyone is doing well! much love to you all.

Kirby and Megan, wow you guys have a cute baby! Not surprising since mom is gorgeous and dad's cute too! Congratulations, I stumbled across your blog through Sarah's blog on the day Jefferson was born. Good luck and if you ever need a babysitter...
It took me about half of your post to figure out who Jeff was. I have been preparing for years to call him Jefferson and this will be an adjustment. Glad he is being so good for you guys.
I thought we were calling him Jeffers?
Does checking this blog several times a day mean that I'm an obsessed aunt?! :) I am counting down the days until we come. I just can't get over how cute Jefferson is. Love you all!
