Starting The Sand Baby Blog

Well, I guess here we go. We decided it was high time to start keeping everyone updated on the pregnancy. Megan is 19 weeks today! Time has flown by. As you can see, the belly is coming along, although according to Kirby a few weeks ago, "Well, it looks more like a gut than a baby." Oops, I guess he has a bit to learn about what not to say to a pregnant girl. We continue to have a good laugh over that one. Another great story about Kirby learning about what to expect was when we were talking about changing diapers, and he said, "How many times do you actually have to change them? It says they (diapers) hold up to 20 pounds!" And I said, "That's the weight of the baby!" I think he was half joking, but it was pretty funny, and the lady in Target looked at us like we were insane.

Megan continues to feel well which is great with the crazy schedule of grad school and commuting. The baby has been a part of many concerts and recitals already, and will experience finals for winter term next week. We also have our half-way point check up and ultrasound next Friday which we are both really excited about. Then we get a little vacation to the Redwoods in California with some friends. We have been a couple times before; it's a nice getaway and very beautiful with HUGE trees!
Our first ultrasound at 10 weeks was so amazing, and we thought we would share this first "picture" of our little kidney bean. The next one will be up soon. They will have to be careful at this next one, since we don't want to find out the sex of the baby. We figure there aren't that many surprises in life, and this one is well worth the wait!
It has been fun because we know two other couples who are expecting right now as well, and we are all due close to the same time. One of them is due four days after Megan. The other is due about four weeks before Megan. Our due date is officially August 8th, which happens to be Megan's Gramma Swisher's birthday. It seems crazy we are almost half way there!

I'm really enjoying the story about the diapers holding 20 lbs.

Can you imagine? A full 20 pound diaper? The baby wouldn't be able to move....

Love it! Have your doctor write "boy" or "girl", stick it in an envelope and mail it to me. I won't say a word!!!

This site is outstanding! How exciting to be able to follow the progress of "Sand Baby", a name you might want to consider keeping on the post-birth list. Has a certain ring to it. Sounds sort of like "Sand Buggy" or maybe "Sand Boogey".

Nice gut...I mean "belly". I'm not even going to touch the diaper discussion. Megan, you should post some photos of your radiant visage as well, so that your fans, particularly those not in Oregon, can see how much pregnancy is agreeing with you.

Best of luck with the second half of "Sand Baby's" preparation.

Great Update! Loved the pictures. I had forgotten how big those redwoods are! I like the belly shot. You and Staci are changing so fast, the babies are going to be here before we know it... :^)

Hi to you both and congratulations. Pam gave me your site. What a great idea. I've been receiving many pictures of Jasons girls from Guam. Nice but not quite the same as being there.
I'll be going to Pams on Monday and should be holding her daughter on Tuesday.:):)
I'll tell you a diaper V.S. Marlon story sometime that is GREAT:):)
